How are your routers different from other VPN routers out there?
Our routers are different from other routers in the market in many ways.
Most other VPN routers are usually designed using preexisting open source code and templates.
We are software developers and we write our own code--often from scratch. We do use open source code, but we do not completely rely on it.
Our router is not just any VPN router and not just a VPN router.
We offer 8 methods to connect to VPN server:
The setup of all 8 VPN protocols is unified using one simplified screen.
- Cisco IPSecure
In addition to being an internet router, 3G/4G router (with external USB modem), firewalled signal booster, and a VPN router, our router can also function as:
While most other VPN routers can only function as VPN clients, our VPN Server Multiplexer can function both as a VPN client and a VPN server simultaneously. We support 7 VPN protocols (no SSTP in server mode because SSL and SSTP are the same and SSL is lighter on CPU) in VPN server mode and all of them are configured using a single unified screen.
- Wi-Fi Storage using external USB flash drives
- PC-free, USB to USB flash drive copying using just your smartphone and our USB mini hub
- Universal Wi-Fi File sharing using HTML5 and modern browser--works the same on smartphones, tablets, PCs, Macs and Linux computers
- Auto backup or one-touch backup solution for smartphones with Samba Server, Windows PC, Linux and Macs
- Bi-directional HD Video streaming. You can watch the videos as well as record videos on the USB flash drive using HTML5
- Realtime multimedia recording (pictures, videos and audios) on the USB flash drive using our Android AVR app
How does the VPN Multiplexer Router protect my security and privacy when online?
Most people think they are protected by just using a VPN. In reality, using a commercial VPN service will only protect your security and privacy on a public Wi-Fi network; it will not protect you from the threats originating from the server and possibly other users of the same service. By using the VPN Multiplexer Router you put a strong security measure in place: it provides firewall protection from security threats originating not only from the Internet but also from the VPN server by keeping the VPN tunnel outside the firewall.
How does the VPN Multiplexer Router work?
Make the VPN Multiplexer Router your primary router (preferred over keeping it as a secondary router).Give it the Internet and it will automatically connect to a VPN. You can check the connection status on the router's main page http://192.168.0.1
Once connected, you can use your VPN on all devices.
How can I choose to use a VPN for my devices individually?
On the device you want to use a VPN, go to the router's main page http://192.168.0.1 and you will see three buttons at the bottom which give you the options of using an ISP, a VPN or both. You can choose to use a VPN for each of your devices individually this way.
For devices without screens or to override, router can be forced using the router's configuration page link below:
I want to use a VPN and still be able to access my local Netflix service. Can I use the VPN Multiplexer Router to do that?

I know I can share a single VPN account over Wi-Fi but can I also share it when I'm not home using the VPN Server Multiplexer Router?
Yes, by using the remote access feature you can create additional accounts that you can use even when away from home using 3g/4g or public Wi-Fi. For example, if you are outside and want to use a VPN on your smartphone, you can easily manage that by connecting to the VPN Server Multiplexer Router in your home and sharing your main VPN account. You don't have to buy multiple VPN accounts.
We recommend using the Ultimate Travel Router in combination with the VPN Server Multiplexer Router for best results when sharing. In countries like China, for example, your DNS queries are poisoned by the ISPs. Because the Ultimate Travel Router is designed to stay immune to DNS poisoning and leakage, using it will save you time and hassle of dealing with issues that could crop up if you used just your smartphone or other devices to connect from outside.
How does the Ultimate Travel Router work as a VPN router?
If you purchase it preconfigured, all you have to do is connect the router to the internet. VPN will be established automatically.
If, however, you don't purchase it preconfigured and have basic knowledge of setting up any VPN, you could also do it yourself.
How can I tell VPN is working?
The router's configuration screen will show you the VPN status.
I want to be able to use VPN when I want. How can I do that?
It's very easy to do that with our routers. You are connected to VPN server 24x7 and switching on and off VPN is instantaneous. The easiest way is to go to router's main page i.e. http://192.168.3.1 and
select VPN or direct internet option using touch buttons.
Will my VPN choice affect other users?
No. Each user connected to the router has their own choice.
If my VPN connection drops, will my IP address be revealed?
Not if you use our VPN-only mode. If VPN goes down, your internet access will be blocked until VPN is restored.
Others who are not using strict VPN-only mode can still continue using the internet.
How does the Ultimate Travel Router work as Wi-Fi Storage?
The Ultimate Travel Router is quite simple and easy to use. Just turn on the Ultimate Travel Router, plug in your USB flash drive in it and connect your phone wirelessly to the router by selecting the router in your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
Next, type in http://customrouter or http://192.168.3.1 in your phone's browser and log in as user "admin" and with password "admin" (or with your password). Tap NAS and the USB flash drive to start storing and sharing your data on your USB flash drive
simply by using your browser.
DO I need my computer/laptop, app or the internet to use Wi-Fi Storage?
Absolutely not. The Ultimate Travel Router is especially designed for ease of use while traveling. All you need for managing your data is the Ultimate Travel Router, your USB flash drive and your smartphone.
How can I backup/store my data?
You can do this in several ways:
- Upload pictures and videos on your USB flash drive using you phone's browser. No app, internet or computer required. Works universally with all phones with browser upload support
- Use One-touch/Automatic Backup. Our free SMB app needed. No internet or computer required
- Take pictures and record full HD videos up to 1080p directly on your USB Flash Drive by bypassing your SD card or store them on both media simultaneously. AVR app needed. No internet or computer required
I backup my pictures and videos using this amazing app on Cloud. Why should I use the Ultimate Travel Router to store my data on a USB flash drive?
You should use the Ultimate Travel Router if:
Sure, apps are cool and fun to use. But every time you upload your pictures--or any kind of data--on the internet cloud, your data is not protected from prying eyes. Hackers or nosy people can have access to your data anytime because you put your files on someone's hard drive on the internet. With the Ultimate Travel Router your data is stored on a device YOU own. It's private and you control who has access to it.
- You care about privacy and security
- You want a cost-effective solution to store any amount of data
- You don't want to pay recurring charges
- You don't want to rely on the internet to store data
- You want portable storage that works universally i.e. USB flash drive
Secondly, the Ultimate Travel Router offers a cheap storage solution. USB flash drives are cheap to buy--you may already have a few stashed away somewhere. Why buy monthly or yearly subscriptions for storage when you can get virtually unlimited storage by making a one-off payment?
Plus, you don't have to worry about incurring any extra carrier charges for all the uploading or downloading that you do (which you would have to keep in mind when using cloud storage).
I've got a Wi-Fi Storage hard drive. That's pretty much private too. How is it different from using your storage solution?
For starters, the USB flash drive is quite robust. You don't have to worry about damaging it if you drop it. Also, if it accidently gets in contact with water you can just let it dry and it should work just fine. This means there's a very small, if any, risk of losing your backed up data should an accident happen.
Moreover, storage drives tend to have short life spans and if the drive comes in contact with a magnet it could destroy the data stored on it.USB flash drives, on the other hand, are not affected by magnets.
Plus, the Ultimate Travel Router comes with a host of other unique features enhancing your ability to not only store but also share and access data easily, securely and privately using VPN technology. You can also enjoy bi-directional video streaming which means not only can you stream videos but also record them. You get a bunch of perks in one single device at an affordable price.
How does One-touch/Automatic Backup work in Android?
You can use our free SMB Server app (available on Google Play) to privately backup your pictures and videos by using just one touch (one-time setup required). The app allows you to map any folder that you may have access to in your internal and/or external SD card on your Android phone. It converts your phone into a virtual USB flash drive. All the features (reading, writing, searching, deleting and sharing files) that typically work for a USB drive also work for your phone.
For example, if you want to backup your DCIM folder that has your pictures and videos, you need to do a few one-time-setup steps:
Your phone will back up automatically every time you use it. Just stick a USB flash into the router and turn it on. Every time you connect to the router, it will automatically find your smartphone, map the folder that is set for auto backup and copy files that were missed in your last backup by continuing to write files from where they were last aborted( only the modified and new files will be copied).
Please note although the SMB app is free, the router backup feature is not free.
- Share the DCIM folder using the SMB app
- Map the DCIM folder using the Ultimate Travel Router's setup screen and tap the Auto icon
- Tap the Backup icon
So, do I have to purchase the backup feature separately?
Yes. Since we like to keep the prices of our standard router competitive, this feature has to be purchased separately.
However, you are free to use our HTML5-based file explorer to upload files for backup purposes.
Can I backup multiple Android devices on the same USB flash drive?
Absolutely! The SMB Server app lets you assign SMB Host name which is used by the backup program. By assigning a unique name to SMB Host you can maintain backups of multiple Android devices.
Can I backup My PC's shared folder too?
Yes. You can backup shared folders from PC, Mac and Linux computers.
Is there a limit to how much I can store?
You can store as much as you like on as many USB flash drives as you have. The Ultimate Travel
Router provides you with a virtually unlimited storage solution.
Is there any size limit for the USB flash drive?
We do not impose any limit from our software. In fact, our software uses 64 bit file access and hence can access any size of USB flash drive available as of this writing.
Is there any file size limit for the USB flash drive?
We do not impose any limit from our software. However, since most USB flash drives are formatted using FAT32, the maximum file size can be at most 4GB. If, however, you format the flash drive with EXT2, this limit increases to 2TB. You can also purchase preformatted EXT2 USB flash drive from us.
How can I share my files using the Ultimate Travel Router?
You can do this in several ways by using your phone's browser:
- Transfer data over Wi-Fi to others' USB flash by copying it to their USB flashes using just your smartphone
- Let others share their files with you. Simply share one of the folders on your USB flash drive for others to upload their files to. They will only see and access files that you want them to see. You may add guest username and password to allow read/write access if you prefer
- Transfer your files to others who may have a smartphone but not a USB flash drive
How can I secure my data using the Ultimate Travel Router?
When you are traveling you tend to frequently use free Wi-Fi hotspot-for example in a cafe, a hotel or at the airport. Every time you use it though, you expose your data to attacks from hackers who could view your private data through the public network .The Ultimate Travel Router utilizes multiple--up to seven--VPN technologies to ensure all your data is shared securely by sitting between your smartphone and the Internet to create encrypted connections. By creating your own virtual private network it allows you to browse both securely and privately from anywhere: in a cafe, at the airport or in a hotel.
Plus, by using the Ultimate Travel Router you also secure your smartphone from being hacked. Smartphones typically do not have any firewall protection. By keeping your phone behind the router you create a powerful firewall that prevents hackers from breaking in and keeps your phone safe and secure.
Besides encryption, what other protection do I get by using a VPN?
Our VPN router forces DNS queries via VPN server only. This can protect you from DNS poisioning when you are on the go. DNS poisioning is a method by which
fake IP addresses are injected to either block your access or to delibrately fake website URL.
Secondly, the VPN tunnels your traffic out of the the current unsecure public Wi-Fi all the way to the VPN server. This will protect you
from any man-in-the-middle attack from within the unsecure public Wi-Fi. Man-in-the-middle attack have been known to spoof https certificates,
thus making https vulnerable. Typically, people use https to access bank websites and other important websites.
By using VPN you can bypass any such attack from within the unsecure public Wi-Fi.
How else can I benefit from using a VPN in the Ultimate Travel Router?
You can use VPN technology to access blocked websites and content that may not be accessible due to geographical restrictions and/or restrictive ISP. Never miss an episode of your favourite show again even when you are abroad!
How many internet connection modes does the Ultimate Travel Router support?
The Ultimate Travel Router is designed to work in almost every situation. You may:
The Ultimate Travel Router provides support in all such situations via Wi-Fi or cable as needed
- have cable internet only but no Wi-Fi and you need Wi-Fi
- have Wi-Fi only and no cable and you need cable

Do you recommend any VPN service for China?
We have an excellent VPN service provider for China. Our partner has direct links with the two main ISPs in China namely
China Telecom and China Unicom. Most VPN providers have very poor speed from China to USA because of their lack of expertise.
We have first-hand experience of VPN connection problems in China and after a lot of research and development, we have figured out what
works best. Contact us and we will be able to help you further.
